Our Story: A Passion for Flavor

From humble beginnings to becoming a community favorite, we’ve built our restaurant on a foundation of love for authentic cuisine. Every dish tells a story of tradition, innovation, and the joy of bringing people together.

Javier Baez, the culinary talent behind School Street Foods, brings both a personal and professional journey to his new venture... and a little sass!

Baez, now six years sober from drugs and alcohol, battled substance use disorder for 15 years before turning his life around.

For the past five years, he has dedicated himself to helping others in recovery while selling pastelitos on the side doing pop ups and delivery service.

School Street, the namesake of the business, holds deep meaning for Javier.
It's where he learned everything about food, started using substances, and ultimately found sobriety.

The business is owned by Gina and Ed Goodwin, who share a mutual partnership with Javier for the new brick and mortar location of School street foods.

Gina and Ed are both community nurses raising seven adopted children locally in Lynnfield.
Gina leads "Gina’s Giving Back", a charitable organization that contributes to multiple causes throughout each year.
Last Thanksgiving, Gina’s Giving Back fed over 15,000 people in need.
Ed is a Veteran, locally active in the AA community, and a resilient cancer survivor!

Together, Baez and The Goodwins aim to offer more than just great food—they’re building a community rooted in resilience and giving back!
